Congratulations and thank you to the Fort Zumwalt School District Transportation Department! In March, the Missouri Highway Patrol was out for the annual safety inspection of the district’s 173 buses, maintained by our fleet service manager and team of mechanics. Each of the past three years, the fleet scored a perfect 100 percent on the inspections.

Congratulations and thank you also go to the staff of the Fort Zumwalt School District Student Nutrition Services department! The St. Charles County Health Department annually inspects each of the school district’s 30 kitchens, which includes our cafeterias and our coffee bars. This year each of those 30 facilities scored a perfect 100 percent.

Fort Zumwalt Student Nutrition Services is a self-sustaining arm of the district. It is funded through grants and the purchases at our cafeterias and coffee bars. No tax-payer dollars go into this operation. Each day of the school year 160 employees serve 12,000 meals to students and staff. The department has been recognized nationally for its innovative programs, including elementary school Breakfast in the Classroom and high school coffee/smoothie bars. These grab-and-go options give students the chance to start each day with a good breakfast. Every item Student Nutrition Services sells meets federal health guidelines and the demands of hungry kids.
