PPI logoIn a first-of-its-kind initiative, Boeing, through St. Louis Community College, extended it’s Pre-Employment Training to high school students. Six high school students from St. Charles and St. Louis counties, including three from Fort Zumwalt West High School, went through an extensive application process to earn the right to participate in the first Boeing Pre-Employment High School Class. Each spent four hours, four nights a week for four months in what amounted to more than 250 hours of intense manufacturing training.

West High seniors Luke Hildreth, Mitchell Palmer and Montgomery Palmer completed the program and have been offered positions with Boeing upon their graduation from high school May 25, 2019. Salary and benefits include a 401K and, upon completion of one year of employment, college tuition assistance.

“These highly dedicated individuals did all of this without being compensated and in hopes of developing their expertise in advanced manufacturing in order to get an interview with Boeing,” says Dr. Patrick Brown, FZSD Executive Director of STEM and Career Technical Education. “These students held jobs outside of school, participated in robotics challenges and in Technology Students Association. They also participated in state industrial technology and engineering competitions.”
