Kindergarten Screenings
Developmental screenings provide valuable information in the following areas of development:
Problem Solving
Communication
Personal/Social-Emotional Development
Motor (large and small muscles)
Health
Vision and Hearing Screening
Fort Zumwalt School District offers free developmental screenings to children three years or age to Kindergarten entry level. Children may be screened once per year between the age of 3 years to Kindergarten entry. It is strongly recommended that all incoming students undergo a developmental screening the year prior to Kindergarten entry.
Why should I have my child screened?
Children rapidly grow and change through the early years, so screening every year until kindergarten entry helps parents know if their child is developing within the normal range for his or her age. Screening also provides parents with information on the individual growth of their child and the early detection of potential delays that may affect later learning. If the screening indicates an area of concern, further evaluation for a child will be recommended.
