Superintendent Dr. Paul Myers shares updates with residents

It was another great turnout for our semi-annual community event Soup’s On! This luncheon with our leadership team is for residents of our district 55 and older. This month, attendees heard from Superintendent Dr. Paul Myers about the ongoing work in our Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and how we are taking a look at the nature of the school day.

“It’s been 15 years since we looked at how we use our time with students each day,” Myers said. “And since we looked at how we’re using our time with teachers to help them grow.” The conversation has started with surveys for families and for certified teachers and professional support staff.

“15 years is a long time,” Myers said. “We want to study: How is it working for families? Is it still effective for our staff? Traditionally, we haven’t gone out often to our public with surveys or asking for feedback, and we’re trying to do that a little bit more now. We want to ask the questions before we start digging into things.”

After lunch, attendees got an update on the construction projects made possible by voter approval of a no-tax-levy increase bond issue in 2022. Director of Construction, Renovations and Building Systems Lisa Koester brought some behind-the-scenes photos of additions at North High and North Middle and before-and-after pictures from several elementary schools.

Then guests were asked for their feedback, taking time to complete the Board of Education Community Input survey and working in teams to answer questions about the event and what it should look like going forward.
