A message from Superintendent Dr. Paul Myers

Dear Fort Zumwalt Community,

During the holiday season, I have been fortunate enough to spend some time with my mom, a retired elementary school teacher. When she isn’t asking about her grandsons, she enjoys peppering me with questions about my job, most often on the topic of how we are teaching reading. She also enjoys telling stories about when she was in the classroom, teaching second grade in Kansas. Often her stories leave me thinking about how much school has changed since I was a kid,

and sometimes they leave me thinking about how much is the same. Listening to her talk this time also caused me to reflect a bit on the importance of our faculty and staff here in Fort Zumwalt.

Working in education has always had its share of challenges. It also is incredibly rewarding. Over and over again, our faculty and staff demonstrate unwavering dedication to creating engaging and productive learning environments. Their efforts create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where our students can learn and grow. Their creativity, patience, and passion for education are truly remark-able. I am keenly aware of the time and effort it takes every day to make Fort Zumwalt a great place for our students. And I am deeply appreciative of our staff’s commitment to our mission.

The start of every calendar year, just like the start of every school year, is a chance to reflect and reset. As a school district, we will continue to support the efforts of our teachers and staff as they meet the individual needs of our students. As an employer, we will remain focused on enhancing the positive work environment and meeting the needs of our faculty and staff.

I am incredibly proud to work in Fort Zumwalt with such an exceptional group of individuals. Before I started my first job in education, my mom stressed the importance of taking time to listen and be receptive to the perspectives of others. I also firmly believe that it is something we value as a school district. It shows in the way we work together as a staff, with families and with our community. Thank you for your dedication to our students and their families as we strive to educate, empower and equip students to excel.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Myers

Superintendent
