Checking in at Emge Elementary where the Student Council finished third quarter with a big project. When the call came from United Volunteers for blankets to help earthquake victims in Turkey, these leaders stepped up to help. Thanks, Stars! #LIM #Habit6

S/O to Progress South Elementary teacher Courtney Simon and her third graders, who hosted and starred in a Living Museum of America’s National Symbols. Creating the museum gave students a chance to dive into research, flex some creative muscle in preparing their display, and practice public speaking, all as part of a Social Studies unit. The students worked alone or in pairs to research and create a presentation on a symbol of our country, from monuments and buildings in Washington, D.C., to the bald eagle, the Statue of Liberty and Plymouth Rock. “I didn’t really get how big it was,” Plymouth Rock shared before the museum opened. “So, I looked it up Google Earth.” Students then had to present their reports to anyone who stopped at their display in the Living Museum, including their Kindergarten Buddy Class. #TeacherProud
