Comparison to Model School Wellness Policies
The Wellness Committee utilizes the WellSAT 3.0 Assessment Tool to evaluate the Fort Zumwalt Wellness Policy and compare it to model policies. The WellSAT 3.0 Assessment Tool is an in-depth comprehensive assessment that evaluates the strength of the Wellness Policy language compared to model policies. Much of language from the model policy significantly surpasses federal and legal requirements for wellness policies in schools. The tool gives a Comprehensive Score, which reflects the extent to which recommended content areas are covered in the policy, and a Strength Score, which describes how strongly the content is stated.
The district received a Comprehensive Score of 72 and a Strength Score of 53 on the WellSAT 3.0 Assessment Tool. For comparison, in a 2018 sample of 50 school districts around the country, the average comprehensiveness score was 54 and the average strength score was 33.
Compliance with the Wellness Policy and Progress towards Goals
Language that is currently written in the district wellness policy related to each goal will be listed below. The committee assesses whether the district is meeting the goal, partially meeting the goal, or not meeting the goal, and this determination will be indicated for each topic. Finally, information on the progress made toward each goal and next steps that have been identified will also be listed.
