Trailblazer Families,
We hope that all of you have had an amazing June and have enjoyed the time away and together as a family. Summer is such a great time filled with family time, trips, pools, playing outside, seemingly limitless daylight, and time to make memories, together.
We have a few quick updates to share about happenings and goings-on at Lewis and Clark, as well as some dates to make you aware of as we move into July. This month we have updates regarding:
Back to School Headquarters
5th Grade Departmentalization
Summer HVAC Project
2024-25 Campus Theme!
Class Placement/Welcome Letters
We also wanted to gauge interest on starting a Girls on the Run Club, but would need a decent number of students interested in participating. If your daughter is interested, please email Mr. Brodbeck (cbrodbeck@fz.k12.mo.us).
Back to School Headquarters
The FZSD Back to School Headquarters is live!

The Back to School Bash will be held at FZ South High School, on August 7 from 1-4pm. They will be distributing supplies to families in need.
5th Grade Departmentalization
The families of 5th grade-to-be students should have received an email from me with information regarding our departmentalized 5th grade model for this coming year. In short, 5th graders will be assigned a homeroom teacher, but students in most classes will also rotate to another teacher’s room during a portion of the day.
Our goal is to provide opportunities for students to practice transitions and begin to gain familiarity with seeing multiple teachers throughout the day. Additionally, this will allow our teachers to become experts in particular content areas, deepening their understanding and skills in a specific subject area. Both of these considerations will, hopefully, have a significant impact on your child’s learning, this year and beyond.
A copy of the letter I sent regarding this information is posted on our website at: https://lce.fz.k12.mo.us/o/lces/article/1654731.
Summer HVAC Project
As a result of this community support, Lewis and Clark and St. Peters Elementaries are both getting HVAC systems! We are moving to a central air system, which will run more efficiently with less disruption to each individual classroom. This will mean a cooler, quieter, and more comfortable learning environment for our Trailblazers and Panther Cubs!
At present, the LCE office team is working out of the LCE library. If you need to come see us, we’re happy to help, but please call our front office first so we can direct you and meet you in the appropriate location. Otherwise, you may be walking through an active construction zone.
2024-25 Campus Theme
Did you grow up loving Mario, Donkey Kong, or PacMan? Did you get deep into Angry Birds or Candy Crush? Do you have students who love Minecraft or Among Us? Then you’re in luck!
Our Trailblazers and Panther Cubs learn every day how to be leaders, and this year we are helping our “Leaders Level Up!” When you return to campus this fall you will see this theme everywhere! Our goal, every year, is to motivate and encourage our students to be the best versions of themselves. They do great things, every single day, and by getting a bit better, each day, they can become great leaders, readers, mathematicians, writers, historians, scientists, artists, and musicians!
Class Placement/Welcome Letters
We will be sharing class placement information along with your child’s new teacher’s Welcome Letter in early August. You will be able to view your teacher’s information in mid-August, prior to the start of the school year. Your teacher’s welcome letter/information will precede this info being “live” in Focus.
We do have a few new staff members to introduce to you, both of whom will be joining our 4th grade team:
***Sarah Windler joins us from the Lincoln County/Troy School District, where she taught for over 10 years in several different roles, including 5th grade and PE. She is excited to join our team and to share her love of sports and learning with Our Trailblazers!
***Kayley Hagl joins us from Forest Park Elementary School in FZSD, where she taught 5th grade. She enjoys playing basketball and hiking, and looks forward to meeting her class!
Additionally, Mrs. Stevie Snee is moving from her present role in 4th grade to Technology Teacher, replacing the retired Mr. Phil Reidenbach. Mrs. Snee is excited to use her considerable talents and skills in educating students to support ALL of our Trailblazers!
***
For any questions, feedback, etc, please do not hesitate to contact us! You can reach our office from 7:30-4:30, Monday through Thursday, at 636.397.3111. Have a great July!
